In case you missed it: Lottery wins are no April Fools’ joke!
If you answered your phone to the news you scored division one during the week of April Fools’ Day, would you believe it?
A winner this week struggled to convince his family that his lottery loot was no joke! Check it out in this week’s winning highlights.
Fabulous five land a Saturday Lotto division one win!
High-fives, cheers, and celebrations were in full swing over the weekend for five Saturday Lotto division one winners who each won $1.14 million.
One of these entries was held by a Caloundra couple who had no idea their Saturday Gold Lotto entry won big until they checked their lottery numbers at midnight on Saturday.
It’s no surprise the dynamic duo had to resort to counting sheep to help them fall asleep after discovering their million-dollar windfall.
“We didn’t get any sleep after midnight on Saturday. I woke up and was immediately in shock. I just kept scanning the ticket because I couldn’t believe we’d become division one winners,” the Queensland winner laughed.
Work celebrations with a twist!
A Port Kembla man checked his Oz Lotto entry after his work colleague had heard of a local winner, only to discover he’d nabbed an incredible $2.3 million prize in Tuesday night’s draw.
The Illawarra winner took a little longer to discover his newfound wealth, and if it wasn’t for his colleague, who’d heard someone in the area had won the prize, he wouldn’t have known so soon!
“A colleague called me and told me to check my ticket. He’d heard there had been a win in the area and said he had a good feeling about it. Once my boss and I saw that I had won, he gave me a huge hug,” the new multi-millionaire cheered.
“I called my sister straight away to tell her, and she said, ‘Yeah, okay mate, good joke, I guess April Fools’ Day has arrived early this year’. It took a little while to convince her.”
Déjà vu for Christies Beach woman!
A Christies Beach woman has proven that lightning can strike twice after scratching two top prizes on Instant Scratch-Its tickets during the past two decades.
“It’s very nice. It’s even nicer because this is my second big Instant Scratch-Its win. The last win was about the same amount, but it was almost a decade ago,” the South Australian winner laughed.
“Maybe I’ll make it a hat trick and have three big wins, hey? I love Instant Scratch-Its so much! It’s just fantastic. I couldn’t believe it when I scratched it and won a top prize, again!”
Good Karma swings around for Cowandilla woman
The philosophy “do good and good will come to you” has come around for a Cowandilla woman who scored a $250,000 Play For Purpose prize with a ticket she bought to support sick kids.
The Adelaide resident’s Play For Purpose ticket was purchased in support of The Kids’ Cancer Project as she knows all too well the difference the charity makes to families with sick children, as she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The Adelaide resident’s Play For Purpose prize from Raffle 14 includes an Audi e-tron Sportback worth $174,697 and $75,000 in cashable gold.
“No! No! No! You’re joking? I’ve won what? A sports car? This brings happiness into my life after two years of going through treatment. Thank you, thank you! I could honestly cry,” she said.
“I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and when I was going through my treatment, I just always thought about the poor children who don’t ask to get cancer. It breaks my heart.”
We can’t wait to see what next week holds! Have a winning week.
